Affirmations for Paralegals

Holly A. Sheriff - Litigation Paralegal & Certified Coach • Sep 05, 2022

Affirm your focus and reclaim your joy.

I have worked as a paralegal for over 30 years. As a teenager in high school, I accepted my first freelance assignment by pure chance. One thing that pulled me in to the profession was the lawyer's positivity. He always said the human brain was a sponge. We believe what we hear. However, as the years passed, I noticed that the positivity that had taught me to love the paralegal industry was far from the average ideology of most firms. Most of my paralegal colleagues found themselves working in law firms plagued with negative teams, and over the years, the negativity grew like wildfire. Throughout my career, including the present day, I have searched for the best positive affirmations designed for paralegals. Surprisingly, I have had difficulty finding affirmations specially designed for paralegals and lawyers. So, I have written over 100 affirmations for myself, my team, my clients, and now you!

What are Affirmations?

Affirmations are positive self-talk that a person recites to their inner self. Affirmations encourage positive growth and changes in your life. Affirmations are tools used by coaches to help rewire their client’s way of thinking. Another way to describe affirmations is they are declarations of all the things you already have in your life. They can also be declarations for all the things you deserve to have in your life.

When affirmations are used correctly, consistently, and with commitment they can help you manifest what it is you truly want. If we were all being brutally honest, we would agree that there is a lot of negativity surrounding the paralegal industry. Day in and day out, if you were to log in to any given paralegal group on Facebook, I bet you would see more negative posts than positive ones. The coaches at Best Virtual Paralegal are on a mission to change that!

Couple of Tips When Using Affirmations

If you think affirmations don’t work or you have tried affirmations before and you did not see any changes in your life, chances are you weren’t applying them correctly. Yes, it is possible to create negativity with affirmations. It is always possible to frame them incorrectly. Doing either of these two things could render them useless. In addition, there are a few different opinions on which method of applying affirmations works the best.

Some experts of the opinion you should write your own. Writing affirmations is common because it helps you remember them.

• Always write your affirmations in first person.

• Be specific and make it all about you.

• When writing affirmation, you need to be clear about what you desire.

• Always write your affirmations in the present tense.

• Don’t use words like don’t, won’t, can’t, shouldn’t, and couldn’t.

It is important to repeat the affirmations with feeling. The feeling adds positive energy that will help you manifest what you want faster.
